Joseph F. Smith Sr.

Joseph F. Smith Sr. was born on November 13, 1838, in Far West, Missouri. Joseph F. Smith was the son of Hyrum Smith, the brother of Joseph Smith Jr. At the age of five, his father, Hyrum, was martyred along with his uncle, Joseph Smith. At the early age of thirteen Joseph F. Smith crossed the Great Plains with his family. At fifteen Joseph F. Smith was called to go to his first mission to the Hawaiian Islands, and served successfully for four years. Mormon history states three years later, Joseph F. Smith was sent on another mission to Great Britain and served there for three years. According to mormon history, Smith became an apostle at 27. After the death of Lorenzo Snow, Joseph F. Smith became the 6th president of the LDS church.
