One of the bad things about using prepaid 529 plans is the fact that you have to live in the state that you set up your account with. However, with the 529 Savings Account plans you do not have to live in that state, they take out of state people as well. However, this also had to do with the reasons why the state does not back up your money if something goes wrong. With the prepaid plans your money is backed up, and with the saving account it is not. With the good, comes the bad, and that is something that you are going to have to deal with whenever you are setting up one of these plans. That is just the way it works, and sometimes that is a fact that is hard to deal with.
