Treating Acne During Pregnancy
There is a long list of acne medications available today and, in general terms, most over-the-counter preparations can be taken safely by women. This said, some studies have shown that isotretinoin (which is better known under its brand name of Accutane) and tetracycline can lead to developmental problems in a fetus or cause birth defects and, as a result, preparations of this type ought to be avoided during pregnancy.
