My daughter recently began taking voice lessons and her coach told her she needed to learn how to sing do re mi before attempting to learn how to sing anything else.  The voice coach explained that this basic pitch exercise will help improve her voice and her ability to be more attuned to its sound.  It will also improve her accuracy when reaching for a note.  The next thing she needs to learn is proper breathing techniques.  She needs to breathe from her back and diaphragm, not just from her throat.  Another important element of singing is good posture.  Her coach told her to practice in front of a mirror so she can check her posture.  She has to find a comfortable range for her voice.  When she finds her range it is important to stay within it to avoid damaging her vocal chords.  I am glad she is taking lessons from a professional voice coach who will make certain she learns to sing the correct way. 

I can remember when I was in school and how excited that I would be to bring home my art projects.  My son shares in this excitement and he can barely wait for me to see his work.  There have been a number of cutbacks at our schools and the art program was in danger.  We decided to do something about it.  I joined a group of other concerned parents and we held a fundraiser to purchase art supplies for the school.  We found a great online store and order Craft Supplies from them.  We saved the program and our children are happy.

I wanted to get the thank you notes out before I had my daughter, so I ordered some online and sat down one evening and wrote them out. I made sure to mention the gift that they gave me, and I put some thought into what I wrote. My wife called me while I was on my way back to the office and told me that she was going to be going out for the rest of the afternoon.  I told her that it was okay because I had to be in a meeting with a Graphic Design Marketing Agency for the rest of the day.  We made plans to go out for dinner when we both got home.  I was really excited about the meeting with the agency because they were going to be working on a lot of our ad campaigns for the new year.  It was going to be a good day.

Everybody wants on this ride.  It is a tour bus equipped with everything an artist of Soulja Boys ranking could ever want.  Artist 50 Cent gave this huge gift of a tour bus to Soulja Boy for his 19th Birthday.  Anybody remember there 19th.  I think I had a job that I had to ride a busted up bike too. We still love ya Soulja.  What is really cool about this bus is that there is a recording studio right on board so he can keep on rolling through “The DeAndre Way” album without missing a beat.  Keep up the good work Soujla as you can see it is not just us little fans that beleive in you it is your fellow artists as well.

I’m starting to get back to my roots. Our 35th class reunion was last week and at one of the receptions they were playing all of the music that was popular when we were kids. I’d forgotten about a lot of the songs. Sure was great tohear them again. Now I’m looking all over online to find downloads of some of my favorites.

It’s funny, because radio is so fragmented or segmented today. When I was a kid the big stations all played such a variety. Rock Music, Soul, Blues, Bubble Gum, Folk, maybe even some Country - you’d hear it all on one station.

Times change I guess.

We spent almost the entire weekend on the deck. It was such beautiful weather. We ate breakfast out there and it was so pleasant that we took our coffee and newspapers out afterward too.

I used a little FM transmitter to stream audio shows from the computer out to the deck. That old boombox came in handy, once again.

Christianne got quite a bit of sun, and finished the Marquez book. I mostly just relaxed. I did do a bit of gardening, but not even enough to work up a sweat.

There just aren’t enough weekends like this. Complete bliss…

While planning my daughter’s wedding we are looking for entertainment for the reception.
