Is it a good thing?

Earlier I wrote about outplacement, and discovering what it was. But it comes to me now that it would not necessarily be getting fired to have lost one’s job and then be given some other position or training afterwards. That implies that the company sees the value of the person as an employee and is seeking to continue working with them. Not so bad after all, I suppose.

Unfortunately, the truth of the matter is that often, even if the company is interested in keeping you, they are only going to offer you a position that is less valuable than your previous position.
