Proper care for your violin
The first thing you do after you have bought your violin is to take proper care of it. Remember to keep your violin out of the humidity and out of extreme heat and extreme cold temperatures. It’s a good practice to wipe your violin daily. This is to get the dust and dirt off of it and to keep it clean. Do monitor any cracks on your violin. If they look bad, take it in for repairs immediately. Take note of the bridge, tailpiece, saddles and fingerboard. Your violin should look like it did the day you bought it. Consult a violin maker or an orchestra director if you have any questions on the quality of your violin. Let’s not forget to take good care of your bow too. It is really not difficult to take care of a violin bow. Remember to loosen it before putting it back into the case. And go have it restrung at least two times each year.
